I’m now starting a 12 week training plan for my first ultra distance event. What is an ultra ? Really, it is any distance over the 26.2 miles or 42km.
My race will be the Druid’s Challenge (09-11th November): a three-day, 84-mile ultra marathon crossing the historic Ridgeway I’ll be sleeping each night at a school using their sports halls and will be fed there too. The daily mileage is 29, 26 & 28 miles respectively.

My training plan involves training 6 days a week, which is something I haven’t done for a long time and I’ve thrown in a load of cross-training in order to increase overall body conditioning.
After my summer holiday in Tenerife in which I thoroughly abused my body with alcohol & eating for the best part of 2 weeks and put on 8lbs – I shall return to what I call my marathon diet or Paleo style of eating in a battle to get down to 11st again. I only subscribe to this for 80% of the time but here is the main website I use.
I intend to blog at the end of each weeks training and throw in some training articles etc that you might find useful yourselves. I hope you find it interesting to read.
